This online gallery contains a good selection, though by no means all, of the photographs I have taken since 1987, when I was given my first proper camera as an 18th birthday present by my parents. My main photographic interests are landscapes, including architecture, and women, including portraits, clothed photographs, nudes and erotica. In both cases, my approach is to find people or things that I think are beautiful, and portray them in a (hopefully) interesting way.
The women in my older photographs (i.e. up until around 1996) are often amateur, and have usually not posed before. They are either people I knew, friends or girlfriends, or people I just asked, in the street or wherever I see them The reaction is usually very favourable, though not everyone I ask ends up in front of my camera. However I always found myself short of models, as most of the people only wanted to try it out once, and so I was always searching for new people. The excitement of coaxing an inexperienced model into expressing herself is tempered by the frustrating times when someone you think you make a great model decides not to pose, or her boyfriend doesn't let her or something like that.
Increasingly of late I have been using semi-professional or professional models, though I prefer them not to be too 'jaded' with cheescake glamour experience, and most of my recent work has been with 'proper' models. This has advantages (being able to get one when you want one, and knowing roughly what to expect) and disadvantages (cost, and the associated temptation to hurry, plus a tendency for them to be less concerned about art and fun). I have found the Internet to be an excellent place to find new models. My ideal is a beautiful, inexperienced, artistically-inclined, intelligent model who is prepared to
experiment...
