Gleich einer rasanten Kamerafahrt in einem Schwarz-Weiß Film, unterbrochen von stillen Momenten, in denen in Slowmotion Gefühle und Erinnerungen auseinandergefaltet werden, erscheinen die Arbeiten des Amerikaners Matt Lombard. Beeinflußt von Künstlern wie Witkin oder Griffith nähert sich der Künstler seinen Modellen auf fast chirurgische Weise und schafft Röntgenaufnahmen der Seele, die es in dieser Art wohl noch nicht gegeben hat. I have always been drawn to subject matter
of an extreme nature. Growing up on a steady diet of death metal, serial
killer books, and collecting everything i could get my hands on from H.R.
Giger. I started as an artist playing guitar for 12 years, 8 of that in
metal bands in the midwest. Burning out working with others, I discovered my love for black and white photography, along with the serenity of creating in solitude. It was at that point I began experimenting with digital imagery. My work since has been heavily influenced by photographers like Joel Peter Witkin and Robert Gregory Griffeth. That was 4 years ago. Now I find myself torn between my interest in shooting fetish photography and creating digital imagery (although the two seem to naturally merge). The inspiration for most of my work comes from feelings generated while listening to music. Sometimes while creating images, I'll listen to the same song over and over, absorbing it's transcending melodies.
