In den exzellenten Aufnahmen des Puertoricaners Pedro Bauzá spiegeln sich nicht nur hocherotische Posen und leidenschaftliche Momente wieder. Vielmehr läßt er eine facettenreiche und vielschichtige Oberfläche entstehen, durch die immer etwas besonderes spielt, etwas von tief "innen" vielleicht, wie eine Erinnerung oder ein leises Dejavu - durch Wind, Sonne, Schmetterlinge, Blicke... Jeder Betrachter mag eine andere Assoziation haben, jeder mag sich an einem anderen Detail erfreuen, doch wir alle dürften dieses geheimnisvolle Vibrieren spüren, welches diese Photographien so unablässig aussenden.

Making waves in the new "Art-Streams" to which we sail at the end of the century, Pedro Bauzá firmly holds the rudder of our boat. This Puertorican artist built his first "camera obscura" at the age of seven and consequently fell in love with the manipulations of the silver kaleidoscope. He was born in San Juan in 1967 and came to the United States in 1984 and studied photography at Penn State Univ. and Louisiana State University. Pedro's images are soaked with mysticism and damped with surrealism. At the age of thirty-four, he resides in both Austin-TX and New Orleans-LA with his wife and five year old son. Some of his work displays in galleries around Miami, Austin and New Orleans. His work has been published by Gambit Magazine and he is currently working on the development of a photography book consisting on a compilation of his "mystic" characters. |
